Discipline

I am becoming more disciplined each day- author unknown

I saw a post yesterday about the person’s family not helping in the food choices and it got me thinking.
I too was like this individual. I screamed at my wife and ridiculed my kids for them bringing in foods I wanted to eat but knew I shouldn’t. It was a battle. A battle I’m proud to say I won.
You see I blamed them as well. I said you don’t want me to succeed. I posted something similar on a wall like the ROCKSTAR did. I said my family is trying to ruin my chances at success. And someone said something that set off a light bulb in my brain. (I wish I could remember their name). They said this isn’t your family’s journey it’s yours. You can make excuses as to why you want to eat the food but in the end it’s yours choice.
So I thought about it and said they were right. I can only be in control of myself. I can not put blame on my wife and kids. I need to be responsible for me.
So what did I do? I bought my own little fridge and stocked it with my own food so I didn’t have to open the hellish fridge with all their foodies.
The point I’m trying to make is this is yours to do with it as you see fit. You can cave and eat the bad things but you know that’s not the solution for you.
Start taking responsibility for your actions. You can always point that one finger at everyone else but there are three fingers pointing back at you.

  • Well said. I have a supportive family who eats my style with me, but they still have their indulgences, and it's MY responsibility not to partake. I substitute accordingly and we all get along.
  • I totally agree Rocky. I don’t have a separate fridge, and my family is quite supportive. But my husband does not have a weight problem, and he occasionally buys ice cream or chocolate. It’s up to ME to be strong and kee my eye in the prize. If I eat those foods (which I love by the way), it sets me back. It’s very challenging, for me. It’s a constant battle -me vs the food. I have to win.
