Sleeved 2/8/16 This surgery gave me my life back. I have rheumatoid arthritis and was barely able to walk from my back door to my car before surgery. I would have to take breaks and rest just getting groceries, I always hurt, was constantly out of breath and was just miserable. Now I am in the gym at least 3 days a week, I am ALWAYS shopping for clothes, always smiling, just on the go!
RK is awesome and has helped me learn to cook so much healthier, gives me support and helps me overcome struggles such as stalls (which frustrate me and make me feel like I am failing). RK is a place where Rocky is real about WLS, the victories along with the road blocks that arise afterwards…I love it and am glad that he and ALL of the members support one another the way they do.

Still working towards goal….Started my journey hurting, not much self esteem, and feeling very low. I had no insurance so I went to Mexico. I am so extremely thankful for that avenue. I had an amazing experience. Unfortunately, that doesn’t leave you with support groups and so on. I found Rock’s Kitchen within the first few months. I can say that I have left a million bariatric groups that were not right for me. But, Rock’s Kitchen was different. For me it is the challenges. It makes me want to try my hand at new things. It’s exciting when you get a shout out for making an entry. It keeps you on your path and engaged with the program. Rocky is hands on and encouraging and I am o
beyond thankful to have this group as my backbone in this journey. A place where us previous foodies and can still be foodies without the pounds! Thanks for everything you do in the Kitchen, Rocky.P.s. I included my first winner. Crack slaw ramen soup.

Rocky Alexander has been there for me and 1000’s like me who have had or are contemplating bariatric surgery. From the recipes in Rocks kitchen to the essentials of exercise in RK Boot Camp to the safe haven of the RK Living Room, this has changed my life.. helping to salvage it in so many ways. Rocky was there for me the day of my surgery, has opened his home and his heart with love and support that is very rare. I began my journey at 286 and was sleeved in January 2016 at 236 and am now 140. I couldn’t have come this far without what Rocky has built for us. Thank you Rocky for all you have done and continue to do for this community. Ever so grateful to you. You’re a blessing to us all.

I sought out Facebook communities for support and information, while in a Facebook group I happened upon Rocky Alexander who told me about his personal journey and vision for a community of support. I found it to be a nonjudgmental place that I could get advice from as well. He’s turned this Facebook page into a place that is dedicated to support ,education, recipe sharing, accountability. This page, community, man has contributed to my and many others continued success and I’m honored to call him my friend and my brother.

I’m 36 years old and was on a fast track to diabetes and death. I loved food and it was killing me. I had surgery on March 7th 2017. I weighed in at 265lbs and I am 5’5. That’s a bmi of 44 folks. Yikes. I joined rocks kitchen 4 days after surgery. The support from this community is heartfelt and needed when you’re making this journey. Sometimes the only people who can really understand are the ones who have been there too. It’s also shown me that healthy eating doesn’t mean tasteless diet food. The recipes are amazing and I’m cooking tastier, healthier food than I’ve ever made before. Traveling down this road is hard but this community means not having to do it alone. All things are possible if you put your heart and soul in to it. The best and most important decision I’ve ever made for myself was to not only have surgery but to change my mindset and move down the path of a healthier tomorrow.

Rocks Kitchen gave me my love of cooking back after VSG. But for healthy cooking!
I went into a depression after having surgery because I love feeding people. But once in the Kitchen Rock’s challenges intrigued me. Doing the challenges I found my passion again and can’t thank Rocks Kitchen enough.
After winning, what? 4 times , I’ve continued to love this page and plan on being a part of this group for the rest of my life.

For a while i thought about WLS but honestly was afraid of taking the next step. At first i thought it would be an easy decision. That i would have surgery and BOOM skinny me…..NOT!!! I had gone under cardiac arrest in May 2014. My asthma was out of control. And I was told that if I didn’t lose weight I would die. I looked into my options and in March 23, 2015 I under went WSL. To be honest I had complications and spent months in the hospital but I had no regrets. I learned that this was a learning situation and not a magic pill… I came across Rocks Kitchen recommended by friend. And I loved the atmosphere from the beginning. One of the the things I loved was the food challenges and since I was a chef I felt this helped me push me and while at it I can help others.

Rock’s Kitchen helped prevent me from having food funerals, not only is this a place to find family friendly recipes for myself and my family, it is a place to find support from others who can relate! It is a judgement free amazing family! Rocks will push you to be better and do better! I recommend all of my patients to this community as it helps you stay focused and on track! Wouldn’t want to live my healthier life without Rocks!
